Hancock County Sheriff’s Office Warns Community of Recent Phone Scam

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office has received multiple calls within the last few days in regard to a scam circulating the area.

The scammers have been known to use scare tactics in order to obtain your information.

To name a few examples, the scammers may mention a missed court date, an important legal document or even pretend to be a law enforcement officer, and those reporting the scams advised that the scammers provided the sheriff’s office number and are using existing employee names.

You should not give out any personal, financial or other important information over the phone.
